The ABC's of Disney movies, as told by me

Hey everyone! So I thought I'd start something a little different with my posts. Because I thought it would be fun, I'm going to do the ABC's of Disney movies my way. Meaning, I'm going to choose one or two of my favorite Disney movies for each letter (granted there is one for the letter) and I'll tell you a few facts about them as well as why I like them. Also, I hope to incorporate some of the lesser known Disney movies. For example, we all know the movie Aladdin and, although I do like it, I will not use it for 'A'.

So without further ado, let us begin!

A -

Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

This is one of those movies that I could watch over and over and not get bored with it. It has a funny, quirky element to it as well as that air of mystery. Also, I love when there's a strong female main character in a movie and that aspect is perfectly embodied in Kida. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Michael J. Fox provides the voice for Milo. :)

Fun facts:

It was reported in 2002 that when the "Submarine Voyage" attraction was closed down in Disneyland, it was to reopen with the theme of this film. However, due to negative feedback from some critics, the idea was scrapped.

The spiral "Atlantis" symbol can be found hidden in many places in the movie.

The written Atlantean language is to be read left to right, drop down a line, and read right to left, continuing this cycle. It was done to create a flowing, water-like movement reminiscent of the Atlantean culture.

fun quotes:

Milo: I'm home. Fluffy? Here, kitty.
Helga: Milo James Thatch?
Milo: Who, who are you? H-How did you get in here?
Helga: I came down the chimney, ho ho ho.

Princess Kida: You do swim, do you not?
Milo: Oh, I swim pretty girl... Pr-Pretty *good*, pretty good. Sw... Good. Swim good. Pretty good. I swim pretty good.

Milo: Will you look at the size of this? It's gotta be half a mile high, at least. It-It must have taken hundred- No, thousands of years to carve this thing.
[Vinny blows it up, and it falls down over a chasm]
Vinny: Hey, look, I made a bridge. It only took me like, what? Ten seconds? Eleven, tops.

Runner-up:
Angels in the Outfield (1994)

This is one of those movies that tugs at your heartstrings and makes you tear up. It makes you believe that even when something doesn't seem possible, like a baseball team that was in last place in it's division winning the championships, you just need to have faith and believe that it isn't impossible. As J.P says, "it could happen." This is a great movie to watch with the whole family and has a great cast including Christopher Lloyd, Danny, Glover, and Tony Danza.

fun facts:

The movie centers around the then-California Angels in Anaheim, but was filmed at the Oakland Coliseum due to the fact that the NFL season was taking place and the then-Los Angeles Rams were using the stadium in Anaheim. The Coliseum was not being used as the Raiders had not yet returned to Oakland.

The film's tagline, "Ya Gotta Believe" (also alluded to in the film), was coined by pitcher Tug McGraw. During the 1974 season, McGraw used the phrase to encourage his fellow New York Mets, who successfully turned around an underdog season to go to the World Series.

fun quotes:

Roger Bomman: God... if there is a God... if you're a man or a woman... if you're listening, I'd really, really like a family. My dad says that will only happen if the Angels win the pennant. The baseball team, I mean. So, maybe you can help them win a little. Amen. Oh, A-woman, too.

Al the Boss Angel: Even though you can't see us, we're always watching.

Until next time,

HAVE A MAGICAL DAY!
